Digital Drawing Tools
Drawing on my phone was just foolishness and since I already owned a Samsung and have only used it so far for magazines and reading I opted against another big brand name when it came to buying a larger sized tablet.
Ever since I opened the planner shop, I knew I wanted to to introduce stickers with a hand drawn character. I used to spend a lot of time drawing and have lately forgotten all about it because, well, life just gets in the way. Now that Mod Mode has been expanding adding hand drawn characters seemed like a logical step forward. But where does one start???
I've only been used to drawing the old fashioned way: with a pencil and pad of paper. Drawing stickers is a whole other ball game. For starters, drawing something on a piece of paper then scanning it in really lowers the image quality when it comes to sticker products. Then there's all the clean up because I draw basically like a hoarder... A lot of extras that no one really needs to see in the end.
It became very obvious when I was going over my options for the shop that I would need to draw out my images digitally. But personally, I don't completely love clipart or characters and the idea of a hand drawn image is still so incredibly appealing to me. This is why I landed on SketchBook: a drawing app that mimics pen and paper that can work on any mobile device. As far as getting used to a new program, Sketchbook is pretty intuitive and only requires a bit of dinking around before you find your way. I love that the app has layers because it really helps me organize the sketches and reuse some of the base lines for other characters.
Drawing on my phone was just foolishness and since I already owned a Samsung and have only used it so far for magazines and reading I opted against another big brand name when it came to buying a larger sized tablet. I ended up purchasing the Lenovo Tab 10 and since I'm only using it to run one program through and occasionally check social media it's been perfect! The size is just right for drawing in bed with a glass of wine ;)
If any of you have taken to digital drawing lately I'd love to hear what you use for your drawings! And stay tuned in the shop to see all these little characters come to life in sticker form. So excited!!!
